HOLY WEEK
Palm Sunday and Holy Week are upon us. The season of Lent is coming
to a close and hopefully we have examined ourselves and made ourselves ready for a week of intense remembrance of our Lord
and His passion.
I
always view this time with mixed emotions. Palm Sunday is a joyful time of celebrating our Lord’s arrival. But it is
a bittersweet joy in that you know that in a few days we will look at the terrible price He paid for our salvation. Then again,
we are one step closer to the great joy of Easter!
My prayer for all of us is that we will slow down and listen to the lessons of the week.
1)
Are we full of praise and blessing for He Who comes in the name of the Lord? 2) Are we willing to learn the lessons
of the Last Supper? Can and will we serve one another as He taught in the washing of the disciple’s feet? Do we understand
the importance of the Eucharist that He instituted on that night? Do we truly adore and receive Him in the Bread and Cup?
3) Can we watch with Him as He still
intercedes for us just as He did in the Garden? Do we understand that He drank in the cup of our sins so that we could drink
the cup of His salvation?
4)
Do we understand and appreciate the passion He suffered for us? Do we thank Him, truly thank
Him, that He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, bore the chastisement that brings us peace and
the stripes by which we are healed? Will be know and never forget that it is only through His cross; His death, burial and
resurrection that we are saved?
These are important
things we should consider at this special Holy time. My prayer for you is that this Holy Week will be especially blessed for
you and that you will be able to enter Easter with a new joy because of this week of walking with our Lord.
