Epiphany 2012
On Epiphany, we celebrate the coming of the wise men to worship the newborn King. Though not of the
chosen race, they were wise enough to believe and follow a heavenly sign to find the new King that had been born. Before
knowing Him, they prepared their costly gifts to give Him. With only a star to follow, they left home and safety to
find someone whom they did not know but believed must be there.
Some would say it is foolish to “wish upon a star”, to follow a dream, to believe
what you can’t explain. But as with the Magi, the wise today know that faith is the step to understanding and
understanding is the result of faith. In the world of the spirit, you will never believe what you can see if you don’t
first believe what you can’t see. The Light will only appear to the opened eye. The Voice will only speak
to the opened ear. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
Don’t be afraid to wish upon the star that you
see in your life’s sky. Don’t be afraid to follow your God-given dream even when you are not sure where
it is going. You may not understand now but if you act as the wise men did, you will have your Epiphany and it will
be Him and His very best for you.
Epiphany Blessings,
Father David A. Barrett
