ON OUR LENTEN JOURNEY

Fast from words that pollute,

Feast on words that are kind.

Fast from judging others,

Feast on building others up in love.

Fast from discontent,

Feast on an attitude of gratitude.

Fast from hatred and jealousy,

Feast on kindness and compassion.

Fast from thoughts of illness,

Feast on the healing power of God,

Fast from death,

Feast on life.

Fast from worry,

Feast on hope and calmness.

Fast from anger,

Feast on patience.

Fast from pessimism,

Feast on optimism.

Fast from little things,

Feast on doing great things.

Fast from saying, “No,”

Feast on saying, “Yes, I can help!”

Fast from complaining,

Feast on appreciation.

Fast from being negative,

Feast on believing all good things are possible.

Fast from bitterness,

Feast on forgiveness.

Fast from dwelling on the past,

Feast on being open to the future.

Fast from feelings of sorrow,

Feast on the goodness of the Gospel.

Fast from being a discourager,

Feast on being an encourager.

Fast from gossip,

Feast on purposeful silence.

Fast from placing self first,

Feast on placing God number one.

Fast from needing to be in control,

Feast on being guided by God’s Spirit.

Fast from dwelling on differences,

Feast on the unity of all life.

Fast from hostility and divisiveness,

Feast on being a peacemaker.

Fast from sorrow,

Feast on joy.

Fast from dullness and routine,

Feast on enthusiasm.

Fast from going it alone,

Feast on prayer and meditation.

And ALWAYS feast on our Lord Jesus Christ.
